About Naomi
Naomi Schaefer Riley is a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, where she focuses on child welfare and foster care issues. Specifically, her work analyzes the role of faith-based, civic, and community organizations in changing the foster care and adoption services landscape. She also studies how socioeconomic factors affect foster care placement and services and the impact of the opioid crisis on child welfare. She is concurrently a senior fellow at the Independent Women’s Forum. Ms. Riley is the author of six books, including “Be the Parent, Please: Stop Banning Seesaws and Start Banning Snapchat: Strategies for Solving the Real Parenting Problems.” Her 2013 book, “Til Faith Do Us Part: How Interfaith Marriage Is Transforming America” (Oxford University Press), was a New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice. Ms. Riley is a frequent contributor to a variety of publications, including The Atlantic, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Washington Post. She was previously a columnist for the New York Post and an editor and writer for The Wall Street Journal. Her work has also appeared in Bloomberg View, The Boston Globe, Commentary, First Things, Los Angeles Times, National Review, and Philanthropy magazine, among others. A regular guest on television, Ms. Riley has appeared on NBC News’ “Today,” Fox News Channel, Fox Business, and CNBC. She has also been interviewed by Brian Lamb on C-SPAN’s “Q&A” program about her book “The Faculty Lounges: And Other Reasons Why You Won’t Get the College Education You Paid for” (Ivan R. Dee, 2011).
