ACPL’s 6th Annual Washington, D.C. Trip

The ACPL’s 6th Annual Washington, D.C. Trip was filled with invaluable opportunities and meaningful insight into our nation’s capital and the accessibility of public service. This year’s experience was especially significant as ACPL received a $1.2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education, which expanded the reach of the program and allowed students who otherwise may not have been able to attend to participate in this transformative experience.

Throughout the week, students toured the White House, the U.S. Capitol, and the Smithsonian museums, gaining a firsthand understanding of our country’s history and institutions. Beyond these landmark visits, students had the unique opportunity to meet with elected officials and experienced leaders serving in Washington. Among them was House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, who was extremely generous with his time and shared insight into leadership, public service, and the legislative process. Students also connected with SEU alumnus Brandt Anderson, now with Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, who offered a perspective on career pathways in law and policy.

We are deeply grateful for the support that made this trip possible. Thank you to former Congressman Dennis Ross, Mrs. Cindy Ross, and everyone who has championed and invested in our initiative, and to the leaders and partners who generously took the time to meet with our students and pour into the next generation of civic leaders.
